Socks is feeling a bit under the weather today. The little girl we posted about needing a foster for has a temporary foster home, but she is running a 104 degree fever. So we took her to the vet for treatment. Her spay incission looks good so we don't know why exactly she's not feeling well. She received subQ fluids, antibiotics and anti-inflamatory meds to try to bring down her fever. Her spay was covered by the grant from the MD Department of Agriculture, but raising funds to cover her additional medical treatment falls on us. Please consider even a small donation so we can help get Socksfeeling great and on the road to a proper home! Donations can be made online: www.StrayStreetsTNR.com Thank you!
Socks is only about 10 months old and was already pregnant with 6! She likely would have had difficulty birthing that many kittens & the kittens themselves probably would have had health issues or died over the course of a few weeks. Now she has a chance at a happier, healthier life. Once she recovers from her fever we will be needing an in-home foster home & will be offering her for adoption
Kittens having kittens! Socks is barely a year old herself, tiny thing, & yet she was pregnant with SIX. Having such a large litter while still so young herself likely would have ended in most or all of the kittens perishing either at birth or in the early weeks of life. Socks herself had a good chance of dying had any become lodged inside of her during birth. She was very early on in her pregnancy so we were able to have her spayed. She will likely be returned to her colony Mon or Tues. Since she is semi-friendly (interested in people, approaches them, doesn't hiss or growl but still afraid to be touched) we hope that she will learn to trust, the right person & may even find herself a home in time. She is a favorite of several of the caregivers. Had we a foster home to place her with we would try to socialize her & find her a proper home. But we began TNRing a new colony today, 40+ cats. George trapped 11 this morning, so space must be made in the staging area for the newcomers. Kitten season is fast approaching. If you would like to help with fostering, trapping, community outreach, fundraising - please contact us. We need your help to help them! StrayStreetsTNR@gmail..com. Thank you!
